Induced Magnetism in Metal, due to water flow
I would like to know if magnetism can be induced in metal esp. 316L S/S due to the flow of water. The water is circulated with a diaphragm pump and produces a lot of vibration. The pipe is S/S and is ribbed and has a wall thickness of about 5/6". The water also has a lot of debris in it esp. sand.

(1)Magnetism can be induced only in substances which are magnetizable. Only some grades of SS are so.
(2) Magnetism can be induced only by using either a permanent magnet or an electromagnet. Water can not do this job.
(3) So if the particulate matter in flowing water are already magnetized and if the SS pipe is of magnetic grade there are some chances of the pipe getting magnetized.
