Concrete mixing drum: mild steel or medium carbon steel?

My name is Ikhide and I am a Materials Science student in Nigeria, West Africa. I recently read an article stating the obvious fact that most concrete mixers have the drums made of steel but I'm interested in knowing what kind of steel: is it mild steel or medium carbon steel? Also what material properties would one consider when making a choice.

Please I'd like to know how cement or concrete affects the chemical properties of mild steel and medium carbon steel. Thank you.

The concrete mixture you are talking about is presumably a small batch mixture, operated either by an engine or electric motor; the Drum is usually made up of High tensile strength Mild Steel the thickness of the Steel plate varies with Manufacture.
Rusting does takes place inside the drum but as you use it it will be Coated with a layer of Cement which will prevent further rusting.
