Preparing aluminium boat after electrolysis damage
I would like you to ask a question about my boat. I have heaps of pit holes on the inside of my aluminium hull. 100s of them mostly under the fuel tank. water was sitting in there without me realizing it for about 4 years. it was all white gooey stuff. So I have cleaned it all with a scraper, then the water blaster then I sanded it with scotch brite on a grinding disk. then water blasted it clean. Then I acid washed it and it still had some dry white stuff deep in the pits, only 1 mm pits up to 5 mm. then I wire brushed them and and got about 95% of them clean but there is still a couple I can't get it all out. then I acetoned them clean. is it safe to fill them up now with devcon aluminium putty. Even if there is a tiny bit of white stuff in a couple of them. that's my question.i would really be grateful if anyone could answer me. Kind regards. Adam
