I think our readers would find this a hundred times easier to answer if you would describe your situation and interest in it rather than posting it as an abstract question, because abstract questions are never answerable without a hundred ifs, ands, and buts, and nobody wants to try to list them all :-)
It sounds to me like you are trying to write a thesis on sustainability?
