Artist wants black surface for sterling
I'm a metal artist and I need to come up with a black surface on some sterling silver parts, that won't wear off. I've tried heat treating and chemical oxidizing solutions. I've been working with enamel and paints that are fired in a kiln at 1500 F, but it's not producing the results I'm looking for. Is there an black electroplating process that will hold up to friction; the parts rub against each other.
Is there a clear, non yellowing protective coating for sterling silver? One that will hold up to friction wear and not scratch off? I've tried all the Krylon clear sprays, but I need something clear that will really stick to bare metal.
