How to remove antiquing spots on brass electroplating

November 9, 2009

Can someone please guide me to solve my problem. Every time I antique/oxidize the electroplated brass on CRC sheet metal items in warm water, I get water spots after blacking the items.

When I make brushed for linning after it, these spots are more visible on brass layer.

--Is there any other chemical additive to remove these spots?

--Is there any other oxidizing chemical which helps me to blacken the brass with less consumption of the brass layer.

--What is the purpose of Ferric nitrate or ferric chloride this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] . Is it useful for antiquing process without producing spots on the items?
