Asking about kind of test for metal button for Oeko-tex standard 100 certification

July 17, 2009

Dear all, my company plan to apply Oeko-tex standard 100 certification for our electroplating metal button product. I already read Oeko-tex standard 100. What kind of test used for metal button for Oeko-tex standard 100 certification? There are many of tests such as pH, formaldehyde, Extractable heavy metals, heavy metal in digested sample, chlorinated phenol, phthalates, organic tin compounds, other chemical residue, colorants, chlorinated benzenes and toluene, biological active products, flame retardant product, colourfastness, emission of volatiles and determination of odours. As I know, all test mentioned will applied for textile products. How about electroplating metal button ? Are tests for formaldehyde, chlorinated phenol, phthalates, organic tin compounds, other chemical residue, colorants, chlorinated benzenes and toluene, biological active products and flame retardant product also needed to be tested ?

As I know, our source material did not contain formaldehyde, chlorinated phenol, phthalates, organic tin compounds, other chemical residue, colorants, chlorinated benzenes and toluene and biological active products. Our metal product come from brass electroplated by Copper, tin and zinc in solution with graphite/carbon as anode.
