Argon or vacuum more inert for high temperature treatment?
I want to heat my sample at high temperature and the result should be no oxidation. So, which is better, to heat my sample under argon or vacuum environment?

Having done both, I will vote for the vacuum furnace, but it needs to have had a recent burn out or there will be some oxidation. Note that it uses argon for the cool down or it would take a terribly long time.
