Nickel chemical plating

April 24, 2008

what acid is most acceptable to solution of Nickel-Phosphorus composition?
is it necessary to use high temperature for this purpose?

Anatoly Sheyn
Process Engineer - Israel

Hi, Anatoly. Sorry, but I don't really understand the question. If you are electroplating from a nickel phosphate bath, I guess that phosphoric acid would be used to control the pH. But if you are speaking of electroless nickel plating there are many different formulations.

You ask about pickling before nickel electroplating or about acid use it for nickel solution to adjust pH
if ask for pickling and your base metal is steel you can use HCl acid with 400 g /l with at room temperature
if you ask about acid for adjust PH you can use phosphoric acid for nickel phosphate tank.
