I need to acid etch or finish a stairway hand railing
I am building a restaurant in San Mateo, CA and want to put a smooth finish on the hand rails going up stairs. I am not sure how or what to do or who I should have do it. Any help or advice on where to start would be awesome.
Thanks,

Rob,
Having your handrails electropolished will give them a maintenance-free and shining finish.
If you make them in brushed or pre-polished tubes/flat steel, have a nice TIG-weld, then you can realise a splendid finish only by having them pickled + electropolished + post-passivated.
You don't have to remove the welds ; they will shine as much as the tubes or flat steel after electropolishing.
You could make a small test piece and have it treated if you have doubts.
If you are shorter than 5 km (3 miles) from the see, you should use SS316, if you are further inland, you can use SS304.
Over here in Belgium, we have kilometers (miles) of handrails finished in that way.
