An inexpensive metal that could be used for making a coin
I am currently taking a chemistry class and we have to construct a coin design for the next half-dollar coin. My friend and I decided to fill the inside with iron, because it oxidizes. We can't figure out what to use for the outside that is inexpensive. Could someone help us out?

Some countries already use the idea you've come up with, Canada being one. Go to their website (www.mint.ca) and look for the section on coin production. That should give you a few ideas to help with you project.

During WWII some German coins were made of aluminum. My father has a tiny one of 3000 marks (or was it 30,000?). Days of crazy inflation.
