ASTM F86-01
Please let me know if I can passivate Titanium 6AL-4V ELI that is supposed to be passivate per ASTM F86 with
QQ-P-35C (canceled) [link is to free spec at Defense Logistics Agency, dla.mil] Type II or
ASTM A967 ? The product in question is medical.

A. The honorable and quality minded thing to do would be to contact ASTM and purchase a copy of F86. It takes about 10 minutes over the internet and you'll have a copy to compare the 2 documents. It's your company who will have to "certify" that the parts have indeed been processed and tested in accordance with ASTM F86. Are you really asking a public forum to say it's OK to substitute one process or specification for another when it comes to medical parts? Why don't you ask your corporate attorney about this?
