Alodine1200 and Steel nutplates

I have a question regarding Alodine & steel nutplates, If the parts are pre assembled can they be redipped in just the Alodine solution and not the acid treatment?

If the parts can be disassembled then it would be rather more ideal than using preassembed parts.

If it has to be done in the assembled condition, mask off as much of the steel as possible. Mechanically work the surface if possible (if you don't then the natural oxide layer formed by the aluminium will affect the quality of the coating). After immersion ensure the parts are rinsed well. This is where your main problem is going to lie, you need to remove all traces of Alodine solution to prevent solution entrapment. Dry the parts thoroughly.
