A. Hi Rosa,
Dacromet is a silver-grey color. It is my understanding that after curing the coating is totally inorganic. Good Luck!

! Hi, readers.
For the benefit of those who now know what color it is, but still don't know what it is :-)
Dacromet is a trade name for one brand of zinc-rich dip-spin coatings. Essentially these are like paints with zinc and aluminum powder in them. As Mark says, the organic content in Dacromet (specifically) is eliminated during curing because Dacromet, unlike some dip-spin coatings, is water-based rather than solvent-based.
These coatings are an alternative technology to coatings like zinc plating and mechanical plating. They are thicker than zinc electroplating (and therefore provide more corrosion resistance), but usually thinner (less corrosion resistant) than hot dip galvanizing.
My personal understanding, which is no substitute for contacting the manufacturer, is that the binder in Dacromet coatings is hexavalent chromate based, so it's use is expiring. The replacement is Geomet, which uses an organic chrome-free binder.
