Removing galvanizing from the interior of a galvanized steel tank
I have an antique boat that has two 100 gallon galvanized steel fuel tanks. The tanks were previously used to store gasoline but will be used to store diesel fuel as the engines are being changed over. I know that the sulfur

in diesel attacks the zinc and causes the galvanizing to flake/dissolve which clogs filters and injection pumps so I'd like to remove the galvanizing from the inside of the tanks without removing them from the boat. The tanks will have a large (12" diameter) clean out port cut into the top so access to the inside is not a problem. Obviously, all gasoline will be removed and the tanks filled with CO2 before any cutting is done.
Thanks for your help

I would like to know what kind of success you had in removing the galvanized interior of your tanks for your boat.
