Clearcoat required for Countertop Refinishing

I'm looking for an improvement on my current coating. My list of preferences would be as follows. waterbased, selfleveling, clearcoat, different glosses required, scratch resistant, quickdrying.

A long list. I'm willing to give up any or more on the list. If anybody knows of products that would work I would appreciate a reply.

What coatings have you tried and in what respects did they not meet your wish list?

I haven't tried a large number of coatings as I'm having difficulty in finding them. I've searched around 40-50 websites of manufacturers and contacted a good number of them, but most do not feel they have a product that can take the abuse of a kitchen countertop. I believe the problem is in scratches. Most companies make a very durable product but not scratch resistant. There are a few companies that may have a product, but it could not be applied in a consumers home for safety reasons.

I'm trying System 3 right now and it seems to work great but does scratch as well, however it's not fully cured.

Look forward to any advice..

Wondering if anybody has any suggestions. Can anybody tell me what coating is used during the laminating process of mdf board? Furniture and other items use this material which seems to be very durable and scratch resistant.

Thanks,

I haven't been to a MDF factory, but I have seen high pressure laminate being fabricated--and it's not a coating, it's a resin which is included during the high pressure pressing. I would suspect that MDF is similar, with the outer surface not being a coating that is applied later, but an inherent part of the pressing process. In which case it is hard because it is applied under pressure at heat.
