Titanium acid etching with oxalic acid - reaction mechanisms
I am a student in bioengineering that have used acid etching with oxalic acid
⇦ this on
eBay or
Amazon [affil links]
to treat sandblasted and machined titanium. I 'd like to know if someone can tell me what reactions happen at the surface-solution interface, how this acid attach the surface and what gases are produced by this reactions. I have read that titanium oxalate is a by-product, is this responsible for the yellowish color of the solution?
thank you
