Chrome plating of work rolls for low carbon steel

Dear Sir,
I work as a process engineer in Kandil Industries, Egypt. Kandil does the cold rolling of carbon steel sheets. I am studying the feasibility of chrome plating our work rolls (reversible rolling mill) after rolling the expected tonnage. I have a very important question and I need a scientific answer for that.
Q1: Does the chrome layer protect the roll surface from micro-cracks? In other words, after rolling the maximum tonnage that the roll can do, should the roll surface be ground before electroplating?
Q2: Does increasing the hardness of the roll (due to chromising) affect the quality of the carbon steel strip? like dark color.
I really appreciate your concern.

If you are looking for scientific answers about steel rolling and roll surface enhancement, I think you reached the wrong place. Subscribe to a world recognized association dedicated to the manufacturing of steel, read their articles and books, attend to their conferences and seminars, etc. Being this side of the world, AISI would be my first choice but there are others just as fine.

Dear sir,
My questions are :
1- do chromizing plating of the work roll will increase the life of the working roll or not ?and what is thickness of layer?
2- there are some problems during rolling from this layer or not?
