Rust prevention on 1955 refinished metal cabinets
2005
Hello,
I am trying desperately to prevent rusting on the original 1955 steel kitchen cabinets that I have sanded away the baked enamel paint from. They are now a shiny mirror-like finish, but I don't know how ot prevent them from rusting. I tried sprayed on crystal clear enamel, but that only took away the shine and made the cabinets rough instead of smooth. Is there a product that can be coated onto the metal that will retain the original luster and still prevent rust?
Thanks!

Aerosol high gloss acrylic lacquer should do the job. Follow the instructions on the can carefully.

Try Everbrite [a finishing.com supporting advertiser] coating.
Good luck!
