How is iron galvanised?
Hey,
I have been set homework by my science teacher to find out how iron is galvanised, but I'm having trouble finding information. I know about iron and sort of understand galvanisation, but I can't understand the two when they're put together. Please help, I need this as soon as possible!

I think you might be exaggerating a tad when you say you sort of understand galvanization, Laura. The central step in galvanization is dipping the article (which is usually steel) into molten zinc -- rather like dipping something into melted chocolate. The zinc coating keeps the steel from rusting.

Laura, also check out https://www.galvanizeit.org/, the home page of the American Galvanizers Association. They have a few videos and faq lists that should aid your understanding.
Good luck!
