Hi there and thanks for your time.
My name is Michael and I have a 1996 BMW 328 Cabriolet which is my pride and joy.Its colour is metallic black and up until recently it was fitted with an ugly boot spoiler.
I decided to have this removed and having agreed a price with a local body repair shop the car was booked in.
The item was removed ,bootlid holes welded,and then prepared for spraying which when the finished job was returned to me the car was stunning to say the least.
After approx. 10 days I noticed that there were rings appearing around the area where the holes had been and it would appear that the area had sunk as there is a definite ridge around the repair as if layers of paint are still active.
As the colour is black it stands out like a sore thumb and wrecks the car for me.
I am about to return to the bodyshop to see what they say but why does this occur in a modern sprayshop ?
Can you help me ?

Good morning,
Did you see them weld the holes, or did they tell you that they were going to weld the holes? I'll bet they filled them with body filler and only let the surface of the filler dry before they painted it. That could be a possible explaination as to why the repaired areas sunk, Either way there is no way they can place blame on anything but their own workmanship, so you shouldn't have any problem getting them to fix it. If they have any self or professional respect, as soon as you show it to them they should apologize profusely get and right on it.(They should rent you a car to drive while they are fixing it)
