Titanium oxide coating questions

Q. Dear sir,
I observed a white coating on metal rings (textile components) which I was told was Titanium Oxide. Can you give me the technical details of its process and the properties?
With regards,

A. Hello C.K.,
titanium dioxide this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] is the white pigment that is used in white paint -- it is also used in ceramic glazes. Please tell us what properties you wish to achieve (high wear resistance?). I believe there do exist wear-resistant plasma sprayed titanium dioxide coatings -- perhaps that's what you're thinking of? Thanks, and good luck, but copying something based on a fleeting glance and a third hand report of an ingredient will probably prove difficult :-)

A. Hi Ankit. Sorry, I'm not familiar with that. Please tell us how you use the titanium oxide in the surface activation of components, and then maybe I can figure out why :-)
