Can I apply a Mirror effect on plastic?
2005
Hi There,
My name is Benjamin, and I live in Johannesburg, South Africa.
I'm a 4th year student at Wits University. Over the past few months, I've been working on a project that involves light, more specifically the guidance of a ray of light. For a light source I'm using a 120w light bulb.
I would like to know, would it be possible to apply a high reflective mirror finish on the Inside Diameter of a plastic tube?
If so, what is the process called and where can it be done?
Is the Mirror finish, heat resistant?
Do I have to use a specific type of plastic for this mirror effect?
I have heard of "decorative chrome" what is it and on what material can it be applied onto?
I have thought of lining the inside diameter (tube) with a reflective mirror film or sheet such as Silverlux, Mylar or a Acrylic Mirror Sheet, but theses are hard to find.
Any help form you will be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Student - Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa
