Preventing rust when welding galvanneal

My company will be manufacturing a new product that has components made from galvanneal steel. Our understanding is when welded, galvanneal will rust at or near the welded zone. Currently, we are experimenting with sanding off the area where the welding process takes place, prior to the welding application. I am searching for alternative processes that can remove the immediate galvanneal surface where it will be welded to 1018CRS , in a production environment. Or would like to learn of other ways to process these parts without the risk of rust occurring. Because of the potential safety hazards related to welding galvanneal I, am looking for Galvanneal MSDS's.
