Figuring solution/mixture percentages
I am trying to confirm what the statement '10% solution with water' really means when trying to mix a detergent and water together for cleaning purposes... does it mean, using 20 gallons water I need to add 2 gallons of my detergent to create a 10% solution (totaling 22 gallons of mixture)? or, does it mean 18 gallons of water and 2 gallons of detergent to create a 10% solution (totaling 20 gallons of mixture)?

Hi Michael. It means the latter. As a thought experiment, suppose the instructions were to make a mix with 10% solution of part A plus 7% solution of part B, and think about what you would do if it meant the former. Good luck.
