Best way to rust-proof buried galvanized pipe
Hi, y'all. I'm building a gymnastics set in the back yard for my kids. The frame is 2-inch galvanized, threaded. I know I can oil the exposed threaded parts, where the coating has been scratched off by the threading, but I'm burying a large section in concrete and under soil that is often moist. How can I best prevent rust and deterioration of the buried sections of pipe? I've thought of tool dip and roofing cement. How about zinc-based silver paint? Any ideas will be most appreciated! Thank you.

The reason the pipe is galvanized is to deter corrosion, so I wouldn't expect it to rust away too soon. Mine was installed for at least 10 years without getting structurally questionable. But bolt a zinc anode (available from any boating store) to the wet, buried section if you like. It won't do any good when the soil is dry, but whenever it's wet it will protect the pipe.
