R.O corrosion

2004

We are using high pressure flexible steel hoses for sea water feed and brine reject of R.O membranes in our plant, the hose made by Nirost4565 steel covered by copper matting(CuSn4) as a reinforcement. Both ends of the reinforcement are connected to cylindrical collar made of copper, the other ends of the collar are welded to stainless steel end fitting. The problems are:

1-broken in welding point between stainless steel and collar.

2-green corrosion products deposit at the copper collar and brazing interface.

Can anyone help me to identify the reason?

Mr Mazen al Quraishi,

Please use Stainless steel fittings . Copper corrodes readily in Salt water. SS 316 could be the best solution for Long term usage.
