Salt spray test
Dear all,
I'm answered for the question which was in my mind about the representation of Salt spray test hours. Definitely it depends on the Place at which the product is used. Please let me know, in INDIA, country which has got all types of environment, how do you approach the conclusion that so many hours of Salt spray testing will represent so much corrosion resistance.

Salt spray testing sounds like a quantitative test because of the '8 hours' or '96 hours' or '1000 hours' endurance requirements. But actually you are better off viewing it as a qualitative test because it doesn't offer you any projection of durability in real-life service at all; rather, it is just a QC measure that is used to see that your process hasn't fallen apart, and is able to deliver the salt spray hours that such finishes are expected to deliver.

The only way you would be able to identify a certain number of hours in salt spray as equivalent to a certain number of years of service is to do an actual field comparison. I can send you an outline of a program used by the Auto Steel Partnership to create a test which had a 5 year equivalent.

Dear Cindy,
I read your reply for the representation of Salt Spray test value. It will be great if you can share the outline of a program used by the Auto Steel Partnership to create a test which had a 5 year equivalent, which you have said.
