Removing ABS Coating

I'm an industrial engineer at the University of Penn State. I just purchase poker chips off the internet and they have an abs coating on them. This makes the chips very slippery and hard to handle. The chips are made up of a clay composite resin. I've asked all my professors and they suggested acetone this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] Warning! highly Flammable! . So, I tried it and it ate away the finish but also the chip. I was wondering if there is any product that I can put on it maybe from Lowe's or Home Depot that can dull the chip or take the slippery surface off without harming the chip. Thank you.
