What can cause the stains on the white gold jewelry and how they can be removed
2004
Dear Sirs,
I am curious what could cause the stains (tiny grey spots that look similar to the water stains on the silk fabric) on the white gold surface. I have a very expensive watch, brand new, what I wore just a couple of times. I brought it to the watchmaker shop to change the strap (to different color), and when I looked at it at home, on the inside of the watch I found a few very tiny dark spots. The smooth polish of the gold is intact, it looks like these stains are underneath the surface. Since it's the very expensive and famous brand, I don't think there may be any problem with a gold. I think something cased these stains, and suspect it happened at the shop, since I only wore this watch to dinner and was not around any chemicals. Please let me know what products could cause such spots on the white gold. Can these spots be removed, and if yes, which procedure is better for this purpose?
Your reply will be greatly appreciated.
