Preventing chrome from rusting
Hello,
I have just recently finished the ground-up restoration of a 1957 Chevy pickup truck. As you can imagine there is plenty of new chrome which has cost me thousands of pounds. One big problem, the vehicle is garaged all the time but with our damp climate, the truck is always damp and has moisture collecting on the chrome. Are you able to recommend some way of protecting the chrome, either with a coating of some kind?

Hopefully you have had the chrome plating done to a high quality standard; there are British Standards for this. If the truck is being garaged, it should be possible to give it a good coating of wax or oil. This should protect the chrome plated parts from most of the ravages of the Mancunian climate! You could also cover it with good quality dust covers.
