Polishing cast aluminum covers to look like chrome

How would I polish the cast aluminum covers on my motorcycle forks, so they will look like chrome?

You can polish aluminum to a good shine, Art, and if you search our site with the appropriate terms you'll see dozens of detailed responses on the subject. Some of the most informative are letters 800, 1831, and 10917.

But polished aluminum will never ever really look like chrome no matter what you do--it's much whiter (less dark, less blue). If you actually want them to look like chrome, you need to get them chrome plated. Good luck!
