Student asks what industries use deionised water?
I am doing a project on different types of water and got really stuck with this question. What industries use deionised water and for which purpose do they use it for? Is there any regulations that come with it?
Many thanks.

DI water is normally used as a final rinse on treatment systems before painting metal or as a final rinse after washing of plastics parts prior to painting. Many labs use DI water for make-up water for salt spray and humidity chambers.

DI water is used too in same electroplating solution which it is very sense to the salts in normal water (chrome , nickel .... ) and DI water plant used in electroplating and treatment lines to decrease the amount of normal water too by recycle the rinsing water from time to time.

Deionized water (commonly known as DI water) is usually made inside the facility where it will be used. Electronics manufacturing, specifically circuit board manufacturing, uses a lot of DI water. Most is used as a rinsing agent to remove contaminants or to avoid introducing contaminants from the water. Chemical manufacturers would also use DI water to avoid contaminating their products as well. Any industry where contamination would be a problem would most likely use DI water. I suspect (though Ido not know for sure) that the semiconductor industry uses DI water a lot.
