I am dealing with a product development and I now sourcing for all my product part but there is a part in this product which require the stainless steel to be both food grade and magnetic. Is it any stainless steel that is both food grade and magnetic? Please advice.

There are a number of stainless steel grades that are magnetic and suitable for use in food/beverage applications. AL 444 is a ferritic stainless steel with 18% Cr and 2 % Mo produced by Allegheny Ludlum which may meet your needs. You can obtain more information from their website. I recommend discussing your requirements further with a metallurgist from a stainless steel producer.

Dear friend,
Would like to help you. Please be specific about the food name. Except Austenitic, rest are magnetic. Further, you can use semi hard Austenitic grade, 316L. It shall be magnetic. Please be aware that Stainless steel used for implanting in our body is of 316L grade.
Our body produces Urea, hence 316L, where Moly should be between 2.5 to 3.0 % works better and therefore, it is used by industry making Urea Fertilizer.
Do you have any tests that it sould pass?
