Decorative finish

2003

Hi,

I am not familiar with finish or metal process, but will like to make some decorations in my house including chrome or golden metal columns and bronze tubes for my stairs. I would like to know if there is a cheap way to do this and how could I accomplish it. Theirs a lot of chrome and golden articles in the market including tools and tubes that are very cheap, is this just some special paint or a more complex and expensive procedure? I wish to have a chrome look like that in car wheels for my columns and a bronze look like the 1 cent color or a golden look like in some furniture.

I will appreciate any help you could give me.

Hello Georgie,

Your local super hardware store should have spray cans of all sorts of different colors. If you want it done cheaply, that is the place to start.

Good luck.

A homeowner is pretty much limited to paints, wallpapers, and foils that one finds in a hardware store or home decorating store. The reason you don't find processes and materials for electroplating or otherwise applying a metallic finish in hardware stores is that it is infinitely more complex than painting, and is beyond the capacities of the majority of homeowners.
