Trouble with brass finishing
I'm having trouble lacquering newly polished brass.. I keep getting tarnish spots. I feel the surface needs passivation, however I can't find anything in the literature about passivating brass. Can anyone help?

You can't "passivate" brass, but you can remove the oxides and carbonates to get to the base metal and improve the appearance of the parts before lacquering. There are a number of products that you can use to do this. A quick dip in a citric acid based product will work, as well as other relatively safe acids. Once you get the lacquer on after cleaning it up, it should remain bright and clean. Let us know if we can help.
