Reworking Chemical Filmed Parts
Chemical Film Repair Looking for a way to touch up chem filmed parts (Small areas such as newly drilled hole) without redoing entire part. Rework Kit/ Procedure? Many of out parts have inserts and other various components installed which would make re-dipping impossible. Typical coating is chem film with yellow tint.
Thanks,

What is the composition of the film? If the film is silicone based, touch up would be fairly easy. Maybe an epoxy or silesquioxane potting compound would work.

For touch up or patching bare or scratched parts. Dip out some of the tank deoxidizer, then in another bucket make up a 3 times stronger chromate solution. By brush, wiping, sponge, cloth or squirt bottle spray, apply the deox while wiping for 60 to 120 seconds, then without rinsing, wipe on the concentrated chromate solution until you get the degree of light to dark yellow you desire, lighter for paint base, heavier if left bare for corrosion protection, then rinse until the rinse water has no more orange color.

There are commercially available touch-up kits: call Henkel Surface Technologies or Macdermid.
