Plating of wood
I am interested in plating a wooden figure. Is it possible to do and what chemicals or process is required?
Bertus de Jager- Pretoria, South Africa
Dear Mr Bertus,
I answered this question before in the same site but I don't know may be I was not clear? Wood is natural material [have apours] so we have to seal it first.
1-sealing
2-painting with polyester
3-etching with [NaOH and methyl alcohol]
4-activation
5-electroless plating now its conductive you can use electroplating to the desired finish
Hope I was help.
Best regards,
