Accelerated Rusting Desired
I am making bakers racks and am being asked for a rusted finish...I have heard I can apply muriatic acid ⇦ this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] to speed up the process...can anyone provide me with another method?

Salt water.

Do they really want rusty baker's racks, or do they want a color that looks like rust? Real rust would yield an inferior rack that will not last as long and might get rust into whatever food they are baking.

John, try chlorine (javex or pool)... 300 years rust overnight.
