Formula for thickness test by B.N.F. Jet Test

Sir,

We run a nickel chrome electro plating factory and our customers require thickness test report. I have studied some books based on B.N.F Jet Test using reagent ferric chloride this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] -300g/l and copper sulphate this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] -100g/l to make one liter of solution but sir they have not mention any thing about the formulas to calculate the thickness of the component. Sir will you please kindly give us the information and the formulas to calculate the thickness of the component.

If by a jet test, you mean the chemical dissolution of the coating by a corrosive liquid dripped or forcefully impinged upon the surface, the tests have very poor reproducibility, and are rarely used.

Usually, the number of drops of the liquid are counted, or the time spent impinging the liquid onto the sample until the coating is dissolved is measured. Then you have to compare the time or drops against a standard that you have prepared. So you need another way of measuring the thickness for the standard anyway.
