Zinc Alloy Plating
How do the zinc alloy plating systems Zn/Fe, Zn/Co, Zn/Ni and Zn/Sn compare with respect to corrosion resistance?
Eric Gough- Corsham, Wiltshire, UK
It is quite complicated, depending upon the application, so I would contact the vendors of proprietary plating solutions, and ask how their formulations compare. Even plating from the alkaline or acid bath will give you alloys with different properties.
A review of the literature will show several articles that study the differences.

Dear Mr Eric,
Mr Pullizzi is right, I do three of these except Zinc-tin and don't know.
The Champ No 1 is: Zn-Ni
Runner up No 2 is: Zn-Fe
A poor Fourth is: Zn-Co.
Note : I use Acid zinc cobalt so it wouldn't qualify for third place, I don't know about the Alkaline.
