A primer to reduce/prevent rusting

We are into steel door, roof framing & purlins manufacturing. We are using black iron (hot rolled coils) as raw material. I just want to know if how often should a black iron be repainted to reduce or prevent corrosion. If possible, can you recommend the best paint (primer) in the market.
