-----Need re-finishing of watch cases
September 13, 2008
Hello, I am a 62 year old ex-patriot Australian now living and working in Texas, USA. I am a collector of timepieces, mainly wrist and pocket watches. I have over 100 working watches in my collection and I am wondering if there are any small plating shops that specialize in small items such as watch cases.
A lot of the cases especially the vintage watches made in the '50s to
'70s, are pitted from body oils and acids and as working men's timepieces, have taken quite a beating over the years of faithful service. I work on the inside but the cases are another matter, as plating and finishing involves a myriad of chemicals and controlled processes to get the desired result. (A school friend's father had an anodizing business that we worked at during school "vacations")
Can some kind soul point me in the right direction - preferably in the Dallas area as I would like to develop a personal relationship with an individual so I can explain my needs in person if possible?
hobbyist - Dallas, Texas
Sorry! Finishing.com is temporarily Read-Only.
Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
