-----What type of steel should I specify for an electronics enclosure?
September 10, 2008
Hello,
I am planning to have an enclosure fabricated for some electronics, and am wondering what type of steel to specify. I was advised that I should use CRCA steel and the power coat, but I read on this forum that CRCA is prone to rusting.
My question is, what type of steel should I request from the fabricator?
Also, another question:
- What type and thickness of power coating should be specified? (I understand that the usual thickness is 40 microns)
Some additional background:
- The enclosure is for indoor use
- Environment is very dusty and humid
- Temperatures can be even 50 (ambient)
Thanks!
