Need blue prints for Hanson-Van Winkle-Munning plating machine
Q. Our Company has a Hanson-Van Winkle-Munning Rack Line. The Serial# Y-786-SC 1975 Print# 786-06-01. We had all the original prints prior to building it. One of the contractors took the prints at the end of the build and we can not locate him. We are in need of replacing the prints for the maintenance dept. If anyone could help us locate a copy of the original so that we could purchase or copy them we would greatly appreciate it. It seems the Company is no longer in business.
Thanks so much,

A. Now there's a blast from the past. I was with H-VW-M from '67 to about '73 designing and drawing those machines. I don't think there's much chance of someone (other than the contractor who took them) having the prints to that particular machine though. Napco, I believe, inherited the rights and the drawings for the old H-VW-M machines. The rumor mill says there is no Napco anymore, and Technic may have the prints, but I don't know. I'd suggest starting with a call to the Napco phone number, which I have as 860-589-7800, since I can't raise their website tonight, and then try Technic.
Nationwide Installation has been installing those H-VM-W machines for over 30 years and you just might get lucky with those prints by trying them. Good luck.Ted Mooney, P.E.

A. Mike,
HVWM has been out of business for many years. At one point near the end they became M&T Equipment Div. M&T is now Atotech and they no longer produce equipment. I strongly doubt that you will find a print for your specific machine. At best, you might find someone with a similar machine who might lend you a print.
If you could be more specific about what you are trying to do with the machine information might be forthcoming.
Further information regarding the past of the machine can also be helpful, i.e., who was it built for, where was it recently used, what was it designed for/converted to, etc.

A. Hi. During the M&T era, the parent company was American Can Co. rather than Atotech. The H-VW-M equipment portion of the business was sold to Bueller, and moved to Indianapolis. At some point the rights seem to have been sold to Napco Div. of Thermoelectron in Terryville, CT or Baker Bros. of Stoughton, MA. Rights to both went, I believe, to Fanta Equipment in Cleveland, so you could inquire there. Good luck with it.

My father, Scott Jensen, Worked at M&T/H-VW-M and transferred to Indianapolis in the Early Seventies. He's still kicking, though I don't know what he might do for you. He was a repair engineer for them for a long time.
