-----Found a buried ring, marked 14K but brown in color
August 10, 2008
I found a nugget type ring stamped 14K inside. The ring was a dark color and it had no shine what so ever as it had been in the ground for a while.
I put some rust cleaner (phosphoric acid) on it thinking it was just cheap metal.
Then it turned a copper color but some areas are now light gold colored.
Have I ruined the ring? Was it real gold? Is there anything I can do? Is it worth any thing?
