Protecting nickel at 1000 °C in air

I am plating 400 - 500 " in of nickel on molybdenum metal. The part is then subjected to 1000 °C in air for 1 hour for additional processing by our customer. The 1000 °C cycle oxidized about 50 % of the nickel. ( Thin nickel platings will not pass the test ) The molybdenum is still protected at this point. The nickel does not protect the molybdenum thru two 1 hour cycles. The assembly will be subjected to between 500 °C - 1000 °C for short time periods during use. I was told Chrome plating on top of the nickel would improve the life when subjected to the operating temperatures. Chrome Question any inputs ? if so how nickel over moly and how much chrome over nickel ? What type of chrome?

Will gold or palladium over the nickel plating provide addition protection ?
