I am a small scale manufacturer of sterling silver and
silverplated products. Recently the demand of these products
is declining due to the fact that silver tarnishes readily.
I have tried various methods including clear lacquers,
proprietory Anti-tarnish dips, even CR6,etc. But none are
satisfactory considering life of anti-tarnish/colour/food
safe/cost. Recently I have found very basic
literature(abstract of a 1993 article by De Bonte) on
Codeposition of Silver-Germanium alloys as a good protective
tarnish resistant coating.
I would be extremely grateful if someone could inform me
more about this process and, if more recent studies have
been conducted on this. I am prepared to experiment ( within
my resources).
