Alkaline resistance on Alloy. Sol-Gel process

+++++

I have a small anodising plant in Ireland and have been asked to produce a finish on aluminium which is highly resistant to alkaline attack. The anodic film I am generating is not resistant enough. The Sol-Gel process has been mentioned to me, does anyone have any details on this process and where commercial chemistry for this process can be got. I believe it is a process by which a silicate or ceramic coating can be deposited on the surface.

Thanks,

Ed. note: Sol-gel appears to be both a generic name for a branch of material science, and a proprietary tradename. To the extent that the discussion can be kept generic, we're interested in furthering the dialog.
