Hydrographics for exterior automotive Aluminum

Is it possible to apply a Hydrographic coating to an exterior automotive aluminum part, such as a wheel, that is as durable as a paint application? It should of course withstand testing requirements. Is it also possible to use the same application with steel wheels?
